Want an easy way to save on your energy bills? Change your lightbulbs!
Lighting makes up about 10 percent of the average electric bill.
“The average U.S. home has about 30 light fixtures; a simple switch to ENERGY STAR lighting can earn you more than $400 savings per year on your electric bill!” – EnergyStar.gov
Old incandescent light bulbs consume a lot of electricity and they also give off a lot of heat, which makes your air conditioning system work harder.
Incandescent bulbs also don’t last very long so you’re constantly having to replace them and spending money on new ones.
Simply changing the lightbulbs from the old incandescent bulb to today’s energy efficient Compact Fluorescent (CFL) or Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs saves you money on electricity and saves your A/C system from having to work harder than it has to.
Did You Know?
“If every American home replaced just one light bulb with a light bulb that’s earned the ENERGY STAR, we would save enough energy to light 3 million homes for a year, save about $680 million in annual energy costs, and prevent 9 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per year, equivalent to those from about 800,000 cars.” – EnergyStar.gov
